Reporting Your Bird Sightings

Bird sightings in Arkansas contribute to our understanding of avian populations in not only our state but across the country and even the world. Regular contributions provide the data for this analysis. Sightings are also summarized for an ornithological season in our quarterly newsletter. Sharing your sightings helps determine such things as range maps in field guides and migration timing changes. Contribute your normal observations through eBird, and if something requires details consider documenting for the Bird Records Committee.

eBird

eBird logoeBird is a huge, worldwide database of bird observation data that is used by scientists to evaluate the state of our birds. It is easy to use and an account is free. Download the mobile app for easy use in the field.

Unusual Species or Dates

Birds can fly and sometimes show up in unusual places or at unusual times. The Arkansas Rare Birds Committee evaluates the evidence YOU provide and adds that information to our own data for future research.
